He said: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "They were not commanded to perform tawaf crawling; rather, let him perform seven circuits for his knee and seven circuits for his foot." I asked: Did he not order him to give any expiation? He said: "No."

Ata' said: The one to whom he did not allot a turn was Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her).

Ibn Jurayj (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ata' (may Allah have mercy on him) told me that he heard Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: If you are able that no one goes out on the day of Eid al-Fitr without eating something, let him do so. Ata' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ever since I heard this from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), I do not go out before eating something; so I eat a piece from the edge of a tarifah. The narrator said: I asked: What is a tarifah? He said: Thin bread; or I drink milk, or nabidh, or water. I said: How do you explain this? He said: I heard - I think from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) - that he said: "They would not go out until the forenoon had advanced, and they would say: We eat something so that we are not hurried in the prayer." He said: "And sometimes I myself would go out in the morning having tasted nothing but water." (This last sentence) is the saying of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) himself.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon so loud that even the secluded young maidens in their quarters heard it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O you who have accepted Islam with your tongues while faith has not entered your hearts! Do not harm the believers, and do not pursue their faults, for whoever pursues the fault of his brother, Allah will pursue his fault, and whoever's fault Allah pursues, He will disgrace him, even if he is in the depths of his own house."

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Five things are among the practices of the Messengers: modesty, forbearance, cupping, applying perfume, and marriage."
