Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped at Khaybar, Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) had only recently been married. She saw in a dream that the sun had come down onto her chest. She told this dream to her husband, and her husband said: By Allah, you long for none other than this king who has come down upon our land. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Khaybar, and Sayyidah Safiyyah's (may Allah be pleased with her) husband was bound and beheaded. The young men of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who were there sought to have Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married this lady. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had dates spread out on a mat for them at her wedding feast and said: Eat the wedding feast (walimah) of the Messenger of Allah for Safiyyah.
At-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Nahhas bin Qahm, who is da'if (weak), and there is agreement on his weakness.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The colour of Sayyidah Safiyyah's (may Allah be pleased with her) eyes was green. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Why is the colour of your eyes green? Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said to my former husband: I saw in a dream as if the moon had come into my lap. So he slapped me and said: Do you want to marry the king of Yathrib? Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: At that time there was no one more hateful to me than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who had my father and my husband killed. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept explaining his reasons to me; he said: O Safiyyah! Your father tried to turn the Arabs against me, and he did this and he did that; until this feeling left my heart.

A narration is also reported from her, in which she narrates: I never saw anyone with better character than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw that he mounted me on the back of his she-camel at night (on the way) from Khaybar. I would begin to doze, and my head would strike the back of the saddle, so he would touch me with his hand and say: Easy now, O daughter of Huyayy! Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached al-Sahba', he said: O Safiyyah! I offer you my excuse for what I did to your people; they had said such and such things about me.
