After Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), these nine women lived with him. Besides them, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also married the Kindi woman from Banu al-Jawn, al-Aliyah bint Zabyan, who is from Banu Amir bin Kilab, Sayyidah Zaynab bint Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with her), and a woman from Banu Hilal.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her); before him she had been the wife of Atiq bin A'idh al-Makhzumi. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) in Makkah, and he did not marry any other virgin besides her. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Hafsah bint Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) in Madinah; before him she had been married to Sayyiduna Khunays bin Hudhafah (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Sawdah bint Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with her); before him she had been married to al-Sakran bin Amr, who was from Banu Amir bin Lu'ayy. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her); before him she had been married to Abdullah bin Jahsh al-Asadi, who was from Asad Khuzaymah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Umm Salamah bint Abi Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with her); this lady's name was Hind, and before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) she had been married to Sayyiduna Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Asad bin Abd al-Uzza (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her); before him she had been married to Sayyiduna Zayd bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Maymunah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith bin Abi Dirar (may Allah be pleased with her), who was from Banu al-Mustaliq, a branch of the Khuza'ah tribe, as a captive in the expedition during which he demolished Manat, and that is the expedition of al-Muraysi'. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy bin Akhtab (may Allah be pleased with her), who is from Banu al-Nadir, as a captive; this lady was among what Allah Almighty granted him as fay'. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a woman named Rayhanah from Banu Qurayzah as a captive; then he freed her, and she went back to her family; she observed hijab and remained with her family. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divorced a woman named al-Ghaliyah bint Zabyan. He separated from the woman of Banu Amr bin Kilab, and he separated from the Kindi woman of Banu al-Jawn, which was because of white patches (vitiligo) on her body. Sayyidah Zaynab bint Khuzaymah al-Hilaliyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It has reached us that the woman named al-Ghaliyah bint Zabyan married before Allah Almighty made (the marriage of) his wives (to anyone else) unlawful; this lady married a cousin of hers from her own people, and she had children among them.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration from his teacher al-Qasim bin Abdullah al-Akhmimi, who is da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy). He also recorded it once in abridged form as mawquf on Yahya bin Abi Kathir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Qatadah narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married fifteen women. Six of them were from Quraysh, one was from Qurayt, seven were from the other tribes of the Arabs, and one was from the Children of Israel. Before the declaration of prophethood, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not marry any woman other than Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her). Before the declaration of prophethood, he first married Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) bint Khuwaylid bin Asad bin Abd al-Uzza bin Qusayy, who before him had been married to Atiq bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Makhzum. Then, after Atiq, she came into the marriage of Abu Halah Hind bin Zurarah bin Nabbash bin Habib bin Surad bin Salamah bin Jarwah bin Usayd bin Amr bin Tamim, and she bore him a son, Hind bin Hind. Zuhayr narrates: Yunus bin Ubayd said that this man named Hind passed through Basrah and died there; there was no market there yet, and no grass had grown. After these two men, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her). Before the declaration of prophethood, Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) bore his son Abd Manaf, and after the declaration of prophethood she bore two sons and four daughters of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration as mursal; its chain contains a narrator, Zuhayr bin al-Ala', who is da'if (weak).

Ibn Abi Mulaykah and Amr bin Dinar narrate: After Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), nine wives, including Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), were together with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away all of them were still his wives. The narrator says: Uthman bin Abi Sulayman mentioned two more women besides these nine, who were from Banu Amir bin Sa'sa'ah, and both of them were together (with him). One of them was called Umm al-Masakin (Mother of the Poor), and she was the best of all his wives towards the poor. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married a woman from Banu al-Jawn; when that woman came to him, she sought refuge from him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divorced her. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married a woman from Kindah, but he did not consummate the marriage with her. This woman married again after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) separated her from her husband and beat her husband. That woman said: O Umar! Fear Allah. If I were one of the Mothers of the Believers, you would have had to command me to observe hijab as well, and to give me the same allowances that you give to the Mothers of the Believers. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: But that is not the case now. The woman said: Then let me marry. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No, this cannot be, and from now on I will not let anyone do this either.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration as mursal; the additional part narrated by the narrator Uthman is mu'dal, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
