Hadith Beginning with the Letter 'Ayn (ع)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"My Ummah was shown to me with its deeds, both good and bad. Among its good deeds I saw the removal of something harmful from the road, and among its bad deeds I saw spittle in the mosque that had not been buried."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The prophets were shown to me. Musa was a lean man, as though he were one of the men of Shanu'ah. I saw Isa bin Maryam, and the person I have seen who most resembles him is Urwah bin Mas'ud. I saw Ibrahim, and the person I have seen who most resembles him is your companion - meaning himself (peace and blessings be upon him). And I saw Jibril, and the person I have seen who most resembles him is Dihyah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The whole of Arafah is a place of standing."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The whole of Arafah is a place of standing, and keep away from the valley of Uranah; the whole of Muzdalifah is a place of standing, and keep away from the valley of Muhassir; and the whole of Mina is a place of sacrifice."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Build a shelter like the shelter of Musa, of a little grass and some pieces of wood, for the matter is coming sooner than that."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Perhaps a man speaks about what takes place between him and his wife, or perhaps a woman speaks about what takes place between her and her husband. Do not do so, for the likeness of that is the likeness of a male devil who met a female devil on the road and had intercourse with her while people were watching."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Ten things are part of the fitrah (natural disposition): trimming the moustache, letting the beard grow, using the siwak, drawing water into the nose, clipping the nails, washing the finger joints, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the pubic hair, and cleaning oneself with water after relieving oneself."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Ten people are in Paradise: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is in Paradise, Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Talhah is in Paradise, Az-Zubayr bin al-Awwam is in Paradise, Sa'd bin Malik is in Paradise, Abdur-Rahman bin Awf is in Paradise, and Sa'id bin Zayd is in Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A band of Muslims will conquer the White Palace, that is, the palace of Kisra."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Two groups of my Ummah Allah has protected from Hell: a group that will wage jihad in India (Hind), and a group that will be with Isa bin Maryam."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The greatness of the reward comes with the greatness of the affliction, and when Allah loves a people He tests them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The central home of Islam is in Sham."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The blood money of the dhimmis (non-Muslim protected citizens) is half the blood money of the Muslims."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The blood money for quasi-deliberate killing is heavy like the blood money for deliberate killing, but the one who commits it is not killed."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The punishment of this Ummah will be by the sword."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Why do you press your children's throats with this 'ilaq?! You should use this Indian wood (aloeswood), for in it is a cure for seven diseases, among them pleurisy. It is put into the nose for 'udhrah (throat inflammation), and poured into one side of the mouth for pleurisy."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Why do you gesture with your hands as though they were the tails of restive horses?! It is enough for any of you to place his hand on his thigh and then give salam to his brother on his right and his left."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Why would one of you kill his brother? When one of you sees something in his brother that pleases him, let him pray for blessing for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Hang the whip where the members of the household can see it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Hang the whip where the members of the household can see it, for it is a means of discipline for them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Knowledge that is not spoken of is like a treasure from which nothing is spent."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Knowledge that does not benefit is like a treasure from which nothing is spent."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Teach the child the prayer at the age of seven, and beat him for it at the age of ten."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Teach your children the prayer when they reach seven years, beat them for it when they reach ten years, and separate their beds."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Teach, make things easy and do not make them difficult, give glad tidings and do not drive people away; and when one of you becomes angry, let him remain silent."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Teach Hafsah the ruqyah for namlah (skin sores)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the entrances of Madinah there are angels standing guard; neither the plague nor the Dajjal will enter it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"It is a duty upon the people of every household to slaughter a goat in every Rajab and a goat at every Eid al-Adha."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the hump of every camel there is a devil, so subdue them by riding them, for in reality it is Allah Almighty who carries."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the back of every camel there is a devil, so when you ride them, mention the name of Allah, and then do not fall short in fulfilling your needs."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"At every door of the mosque there are two angels who record those who come, the first and then the next. The one who came first is like one who offers a camel in sacrifice, the one who came after him is like one who offers a cow, the one who came after him is like one who offers a goat, the one who came after him is like one who offers a bird, and the one who came after him is like one who offers an egg. Then when the imam sits, the angels roll up the scrolls."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Upon every clan lies the responsibility for blood money."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"It is upon every Muslim man to take a ritual bath (ghusl) on one day in every seven days, and that is Friday."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Upon every joint of the son of Adam there is a charity every day, and two rak'ahs of the Duha (forenoon) prayer suffice for all of that."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Going to the Friday prayer is obligatory upon everyone who has reached puberty, and the ritual bath (ghusl) is obligatory upon everyone who goes to the Friday prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Upon every Muslim there is charity. If he finds nothing, let him work with his hand, benefit himself and give charity. If he is not able to, let him help someone in need who is in distress. If he cannot do this either, let him enjoin good. And if he does not do this either, let him refrain from evil, for that too is charity for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Upon every soul, on every day on which the sun rises, there is a charity from himself upon himself. Among the doors of charity are: saying the takbir, saying 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah), saying 'Alhamdu lillah' (Praise be to Allah), saying 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no deity but Allah), saying 'Astaghfirullah' (I seek the forgiveness of Allah), enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing thorns, bones and stones from the people's path, guiding the blind, making the deaf and the mute hear by signs until they understand, showing someone who asks the way to the place of his need which you know, running swiftly on your legs to the distressed person who is calling for help, and exerting the strength of your arms in helping the weak. All of these are doors of charity from you upon yourself. And in your intercourse with your wife there is also a reward for you. Tell me, if you had a son who reached adulthood and you hoped for his reward, and then he died, would you not count him as a source of reward? Did you create him? Did you guide him? Did you provide for him? In the same way, place your seed in what is lawful for it and keep it away from what is unlawful; then if Allah wills He gives it life, and if He wills He causes it to die, and you still have a reward."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"It is obligatory upon you to listen and obey, in your hardship and your ease, in what you like and what you dislike, and even when others are given preference over you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Hold fast to horses, for goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Adopt gentleness, for gentleness is not in anything except that it beautifies it, and it is not removed from anything except that it disfigures it."
