Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Those who eat their fill the most in this world will be the longest hungry in the Hereafter."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I have urged you very much regarding the use of the miswak."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Most of the mistakes and sins of the son of Adam (a human being) are because of his tongue."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Most of the punishment of the grave is because of urine (not guarding against its splashes)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Most of the hypocrites of my Ummah will be its reciters (that is, those who recite the Qur'an for show)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Prostrate much, for there is no Muslim who performs a single prostration for Allah Almighty but that Allah Almighty raises him a rank in Paradise by it and wipes away a sin from him by it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Recite 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no might and no power except with Allah) abundantly, for it is one of the treasures of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"After the decree and predestination of Allah Almighty (that is, His decision and destiny), most of the deaths in my Ummah will be due to the evil eye."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Send abundant blessings (durood) upon me, for Allah Almighty has appointed an angel at my grave, so when a man from my Ummah sends blessings upon me, that angel says to me: 'O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! So-and-so, son of so-and-so, has just now sent blessings upon you.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Send abundant blessings upon me on the day of Friday, for whoever sends blessings upon me on the day of Friday, his blessing is (duly) presented to me."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Send abundant blessings upon me on the day of Friday and the night of Friday, for whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah Almighty sends ten mercies upon him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Remember abundantly the destroyer (and ender) of pleasures, that is, death."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Remember abundantly the ender of pleasures, that is, death, for whoever remembers it at a time of hardship in livelihood, it (the remembrance of death) makes that hardship spacious (and light) for him, and whoever remembers it in abundance and prosperity, it makes it (the spaciousness of this world) narrow for him (that is, it makes him aware of the impermanence of this world)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Bear abundant witness that 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah), before death is made to come between you and it (this declaration), and prompt your dying ones (that is, those close to death) to say it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Plant the saplings of Paradise abundantly, for its water is sweet and its soil is excellent and fertile, so plant its saplings abundantly, and that (sapling) is saying 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no might and no power except with Allah)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Say 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no might and no power except with Allah) abundantly, for it is among the treasures of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Make much use of shoes (that is, keep shoes on), for as long as a person keeps his shoes on, it is as if he remains riding (that is, because of the shoes he feels less of the hardship and fatigue of walking on foot)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most honoured of people is the one who is the most God-fearing (pious) among them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most honoured and noble of people is Yusuf bin Ya'qub bin Ishaq bin Ibrahim (peace be upon them)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Honour your hair and look after it well (by washing and oiling it) and keep it groomed."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Honour bread (that is, protect it from being wasted or falling, and value it)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Honour the hair (that is, keep it clean and groomed)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"In it (that is, in the time of tribulation), break your bows, cut their strings, cling to the inner parts of your houses (that is, stay confined within them), and in it be like the better of the two sons of Adam (peace be upon him) (that is, like Habil, who accepted being killed but could not bear to kill)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Lord of mankind! Remove the affliction."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Lord of mankind! O God of mankind! Remove the affliction."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O Lord of mankind! Remove the affliction, for none besides You can remove this distress and hardship."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Guarantee me six things, and I guarantee you Paradise: (1) when one of you speaks, let him not lie; (2) when something is entrusted to him, let him not betray the trust; (3) when he makes a promise, let him not break the promise; (4) lower your gazes; (5) restrain your hands (from wronging anyone); and (6) guard your private parts."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May the righteous eat your food, may the angels pray for mercy upon you, and may those who are fasting break their fast at your place."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Eating any predatory animal with fangs (canine teeth) is forbidden."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Take on only as much of (good) deeds as you are able to bear, for Allah Almighty does not grow weary (of giving reward) until you grow weary (of doing deeds), and indeed the most beloved deed to Allah Almighty is the one done constantly, even if it is little."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Take on only as much of (good) deeds as you are able to bear, for the best deed is the one done constantly, even if it is little."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most complete of the believers in faith is the one whose character is the best."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most complete of the believers in faith are those whose character is the best, who are gentle-natured and humble, who love and are familiar with people and whom people love and are familiar with; and there is no good in the one who neither is familiar with anyone nor is anyone familiar with him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The most complete in faith among the believers is the one whose character is the best, and the best of you are those who are best towards their women (wives)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The milk of the cow is a cure, its ghee is a medicine, and its meat is a disease."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy (and righteous) life and die the death of a martyr, and may Allah grant you the coolness of the eyes in this world and the Hereafter." (He (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication for Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Wear white clothes, for they are very pure and fine, and shroud your dead in them as well."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Of your clothes, wear the white ones, for they are among the best of your clothes, and shroud your dead in them as well; and indeed the best of your kohl is ithmid: it sharpens the eyesight and makes the hair (of the eyelashes) grow."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek the hour on the day of Friday in which (the acceptance of supplication) is hoped for, from after Asr until the sun sets."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) in the last night of Ramadan."
