Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) we used to call it (Surah al-Mulk) 'al-Mani'ah' (the Protector). It is a surah in the Book of Allah; whoever recites it every night has done much and done excellently."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is as though I am looking at Musa (peace be upon him) in this valley, in the state of ihram, wrapped in two Qatawani garments."
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب العين / 10217
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, took Ibrahim (peace be upon him) as a khalil (intimate friend), and your companion (I) is also the khalil of Allah, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) will be the leader of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection." Then he recited this verse: "It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praised station (Maqam Mahmud)" [Surah al-Isra: 79].
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب العين / 10218
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When it was the day of Badr and the captives were brought, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "What is your opinion about these people?" He said: O Messenger of Allah! They are your own people. If you kill them, they will enter the Fire, and if you take ransom for them, then whoever accepts Islam will be a support for us, and whoever refuses, we will take his ransom. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar! What is your opinion?" He said: My opinion is that you bring them forward and strike their necks, for these are the leaders of disbelief and the chiefs of disbelief. By Allah! They were not content with driving us out, until they became the first of the Arabs to wage war against us. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Bakr! Your example is that of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he said: 'So whoever follows me is of me, and whoever disobeys me, then indeed You are Forgiving, Merciful' [Surah Ibrahim: 36]. And as for you, O Umar, your example is that of Nuh (peace be upon him) when he said: 'My Lord! Do not leave upon the earth a single inhabitant from among the disbelievers' [Surah Nuh: 26]."
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب العين / 10219
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When it was the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning the captives: "What is your opinion?" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! They denied you and drove you out; strike their necks. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! You are in a valley with plenty of firewood; set it ablaze, then throw them into it. Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May Allah sever your ties of kinship. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! They are your clan, your stock and your people; pardon them, and Allah will save them from the Fire through you. The narrator said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went inside, and some began to say: The right view is what Abu Bakr said; and others began to say: The right view is what Umar said. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and said: "What do you say about these two men? Their example is like that of their brothers who came before them. Nuh (peace be upon him) said: 'My Lord! Do not leave upon the earth a single inhabitant from among the disbelievers' [Surah Nuh: 26]. And Musa (peace be upon him) said: 'Our Lord! Obliterate their wealth' [Surah Yunus: 88]. And Isa (peace be upon him) said: 'If You punish them, they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, then indeed You are the Almighty, the Wise' [Surah al-Ma'idah: 118]. And Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: 'So whoever follows me is of me, and whoever disobeys me, then indeed You are Forgiving, Merciful' [Surah Ibrahim: 36]. Indeed, Allah makes the hearts of some men so hard in this matter that they become harder than stone, and He makes the hearts of some men so soft that they become softer than softness itself. You are in a state of need, and not one of them shall return except with a ransom or by having his neck struck." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: So I said: Except Suhayl bin Bayda'. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I had heard Suhayl speaking of Islam. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent, and I began looking towards the sky, wondering when stones would fall upon me. I said (to myself): I have spoken before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Until he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Except Suhayl bin Bayda'."

You are in a valley with plenty of firewood, so gather a great deal of firewood for them and set it ablaze upon them. So Allah struck the hearts of some of them against others, then cursed them upon the tongue of Dawud and Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon them both)." It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people before you were such that when one of them committed a sin, the one who forbade him would forbid him only verbally; then the next day he would sit with him, eat with him and drink with him, as though he had not seen him in a sin the day before. When Allah saw this state of theirs, He struck the hearts of some of them against others, then cursed them upon the tongue of their prophets Dawud and Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon them both). That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress. By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you must certainly enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, seize the hand of the wrongdoer and firmly bend him back to the truth, or else Allah will strike your hearts against one another too, then curse you just as He cursed them."
