Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10234 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the fear

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَا: ثنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَيَانٍ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ الْأَزْرَقُ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: «صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ، فَصَفَّ خَلْفَهُ صَفًّا، وَصَفًّا مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرَ الصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ، وَتَقَدَّمَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلُّوا خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَقَامَ الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ فَصَلُّوا رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ أُولَئِكَ فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَصَلُّوا رَكْعَةً»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the fear prayer. One row lined up behind him and one row remained facing the enemy. He led them in one rak'ah; then the row that was behind him moved back and stood in the place of those who had been facing the enemy, and those came forward and prayed one rak'ah behind him. Then he concluded the prayer with salam to them. Then those who were behind him stood and prayed one rak'ah, then those (others) came forward, stood in their place and prayed one rak'ah."
