حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الرَّقَاشِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، ثنا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ إِذْنٌ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ صَاحِبِهِ، قَالَ: وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: «يَا أَبَا يَزِيدَ، لَوْ رَآكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ لَأَحَبَّكَ، وَمَا رَأَيْتُكَ إِلَّا ذَكَرْتُ الْمُخْبِتِينَ»
Abu Ubaydah bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: When al-Rabi' bin Khuthaym (may Allah have mercy on him) came in to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), no (one else) was given permission to enter until each of them had finished with the other. The narrator said: And Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Abu Yazid! Had the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seen you, he would have loved you, and whenever I see you, I am reminded of the humble (al-mukhbitin)."
