He went, then came back and said: No, by Allah, I found nothing, not even an iron ring, but this is my waist-wrapper; half of it is hers. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What use will your waist-wrapper be to you? If you wear it, nothing of it will be on her, and if she wears it, nothing of it will be on you." The man sat until his sitting became long. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him and called him, or he was brought, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What do you know of the Qur'an?" He said: I know such-and-such a surah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have married her to you for what you know of the Qur'an."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a man who was among the most useful of the Muslims to the Muslims in a battle he fought alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at him and said: "Whoever wishes to see one of the people of Hell, let him look at this man." So a man from among the people followed him, while he was in that state, fighting most fiercely against the polytheists, until he was wounded. Hastening his death, he took the point of his sword and placed it between his breasts, until it came out from between his shoulders. Then that man came hurrying to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How so?" He said: You said: "Whoever wishes to see one of the people of Hell, let him look at this man," while he was the most useful of us, so I was certain he would not die in that state. When he was wounded, he hastened his death and killed himself. At that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A servant does the deeds of the people of Paradise while he is of the people of Hell, and does the deeds of the people of Hell while he is of the people of Paradise. Deeds are judged only by their endings."

The woman said: O Messenger of Allah, I have come to clothe you with this. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took it, being in need of it, and put it on. One of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions saw it on him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, how beautiful this is; clothe me with it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Very well." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) got up, his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions blamed that man and said: You did not do well. You saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took it being in need of it, then you asked him for it, although you knew that whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) is asked for anything, he never refuses. He said: By Allah, nothing moved me to do this except that I hoped for its blessing because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had worn it, so that perhaps I may be shrouded in it.
