Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said that an Arab woman was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Abu Usayd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) to send for her. He sent for her and she came and stayed with Banu Sa'idah. The narrator said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out until he came to her. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to her, she said: I seek refuge with Allah from you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah has granted you refuge from me." The people said to her: Do you know who this is? This is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he came to ask for your hand in marriage. She said: I am far more wretched than that. Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came that day until he sat in the Saqifah of Banu Sa'idah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) and his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions, then he said: "O Abu Sa'd, give us something to drink." The narrator said: So I brought out this cup for them and gave them drink in it. Abu Hazim said: "Then Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) brought out that same cup for us and we drank from it. Later Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) asked him for that cup, and he gave it to him as a gift."
