In one narration the words are: "Whenever I attended a funeral, I kept thinking: What will he say? And what will be said to him?"
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains: one of them is transmitted from Abu Salamah as a "mursal" narration, and the other from al-Majishun as a "munqati'" (broken) narration, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We returned from Hajj (the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:) Umrah. When we reached Dhu al-Hulayfah, there were some young men of the Ansar there who met their relatives. These people met Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) and told Sayyiduna Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) about the death of his wife. Sayyiduna Usayd lowered his head and began to weep. I said to him: May Allah Almighty forgive you! You are a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you have the honour of precedence and seniority; why is it that you are weeping over a woman? He removed the cloth from his face and said: You are right; by my life! It is my due that I should not weep over anyone after Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said something about him. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I asked him: What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say about him? He told me: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Throne shook at the death of Sa'd bin Mu'adh." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: At that time Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was walking between me and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Ahmad recorded it in this way.

It is reported about Utarid that he gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift a garment of brocade (dibaj) which Chosroes had given him to wear. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his Companions, and they submitted: Has this been sent down to you from the sky? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you amazed at this? The handkerchiefs of Sa'd bin Mu'adh in Paradise are better than this. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O boy! Take this garment to Abu Jahm bin Hudhayfah and tell him to send me the cloak called khamisah.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except Abd al-Rahman bin Amr bin Sa'd bin Mu'adh, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Ukaydir, the (ruler) of Dumah, sent the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a cloak (jubbah) made of sundus (fine silk), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put it on. The people were amazed at it (that is, they liked it very much). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you amazed at this? By the One in whose Hand is my soul, the handkerchiefs of Sa'd bin Mu'adh in Paradise are better than this. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent that cloak to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He submitted: O Messenger of Allah! You disliked it, so shall I wear it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umar! I sent it to you so that you might give it to someone and obtain wealth in exchange for it. The narrator says: This was before silk was forbidden.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narration is mentioned in the Sahih in abridged form, in which it is only mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent that cloak to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), with the part from there to the end.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) spread out a cloth for her, and she sat on it. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: O Khalifah of the Messenger of Allah! Who is this lady? Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: She is the daughter of a man who is better than me and you, except for the Messenger of Allah, whose case is different. He is a man who passed away in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and took up his abode in Paradise, while you and I remained behind.
