Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Honour the hair!"
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Khalid bin Ilyas, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever keeps hair should treat it well, or else have it shaved." Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Ali bin Sa'id al-Razi. Imam al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) says: he is not strong. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man whose hair was dishevelled. He said: "Why does one of you disfigure himself?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to him with his blessed hand, meaning: cut it.

Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Majza'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) had such long hair at the front of his head that when he sat and let it down, it reached the ground. People said to him: "Why do you not have it cut?" He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over it, so I will not have it shaved until I die." And he did not have it shaved until he died.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ayyub bin Thabit al-Makki; Abu Hatim says: his hadith is not praised.

Sayyiduna Salim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a delegation while he was a young boy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invoked blessings upon him and supplicated for him, and he performed ablution with the water left over from the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In those days his hair was long, and he had reached puberty or was close to reaching it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. It contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.

They replied: "Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us at our lodgings. We presented food to him, and he ate some of our food. He saw some hair twisted together on the forehead of one of us, so he placed his blessed hand on it and said: 'All praise belongs to Allah, who has made the like of this in my Ummah.'"
