Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8827

Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever keeps hair should treat it well, or else have it shaved." The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to comb his hair every other day.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Ali bin Sa'id al-Razi. Imam al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) says: he is not strong. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
