Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Majza'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) had such long hair at the front of his head that when he sat and let it down, it reached the ground. People said to him: "Why do you not have it cut?" He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over it, so I will not have it shaved until I die." And he did not have it shaved until he died.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ayyub bin Thabit al-Makki; Abu Hatim says: his hadith is not praised.
