بَابٌ فِيمَنْ فَرَّجَ عَنْ مُعْسِرٍ ، أَوْ أَنْظَرَهُ أَوْ تَرَكَ الْغَارِمَ .

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ تُسْتَجَابَ دَعْوَتُهُ ، وَأَنْ تُكْشَفَ كُرْبَتُهُ ، فَلْيُفَرِّجْ عَنْ مُعْسِرٍ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ يَسَّرَ عَلَى مُعْسِرٍ " . وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes that his supplications be answered and his distress be removed should give relief to one in hardship."
Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it; he (Abu Ya'la) recorded these words: "Whoever makes things easy for one in hardship." The narrators of Imam Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَعَنْ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " أَظَلَّ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ ؛ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ تَرَكَ لِغَارِمٍ " .
رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فِي الْمُسْنَدِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ؛ وَنُسِبَ إِلَى الْكَذِبِ .
Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah Almighty will keep in His shade, on the day when there will be no shade but His shade, the servant who gave respite to one in hardship or let a debtor off."
Abdullah recorded it in the "Musnad"; its chain contains a narrator, Abbas bin al-Fadl al-Ansari, who has been accused of lying.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا - وَأَوْمَأَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ - : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ وَضَعَ لَهُ وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعُوبَةَ السُّلَمِيُّ ، وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to the mosque, gesturing with his blessed hand like this (here the narrator Abu Abd al-Rahman pointed with his hand towards the ground while relating it), (and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "Whoever gives respite to one in hardship, or remits his payment for him, Allah Almighty will protect him from the heat of Hell."
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Ja'ubah al-Sulami, and I have not found anyone who gave his biography. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

وَعَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ يَسَّرَ عَلَيْهِ أَظَلَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِيُ الثَّلَاثَةِ ، وَفِيهِ عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ مُعَتَّبٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives respite to one in hardship or makes things easy for him, Allah Almighty will keep that person in His shade on the day when there will be no shade other than His shade."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in all three books (his three Mu'jams); its chain contains a narrator, Ubaydah bin Mu'attib, who is matruk (abandoned).

وَعَنْ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُظِلَّهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ فَلْيُيَسِّرْ عَلَى مُعْسِرٍ ، أَوْ لِيَضَعْ عَنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ مِنْ طَرِيقِ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَسْعَدَ . وَعَاصِمٌ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَلَمْ يُدْرِكْ أَسْعَدَ بْنَ زُرَارَةَ .
Sayyiduna As'ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever would be pleased that Allah Almighty grant him shade on the day when there will be no shade other than His shade should make things easy for one in hardship or remit his payment for him."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir through Asim bin Ubaydullah from Sayyiduna As'ad (may Allah be pleased with him). The narrator Asim is da'if (weak), and he did not live in the time of Sayyiduna As'ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him).

وَعَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ أَظَلَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مُجْمَعٌ عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ .
Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives respite to one in hardship or remits his payment for him, Allah Almighty will grant him His shade on the Day of Resurrection."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Khalid bin Abd al-Rahman al-Makhzumi, and there is agreement that he is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ أَبِي الْيَسَرِ قَالَ : أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ أَوَّلَ النَّاسِ يَسْتَظِلُّ فِي ظِلِّ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَرَجُلٌ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا حَتَّى يَجِدَ شَيْئًا ، أَوْ تَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِ بِمَا يَطْلُبُهُ ، يَقُولُ : مَا لِي عَلَيْكَ صَدَقَةٌ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ وَيَخْرِقُ صَحِيفَتَهُ " .
قُلْتُ : لِأَبِي الْيَسَرِ فِي الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu al-Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I bear witness concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as I state this, that I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The first of people to come into the shade of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be a man who gave respite to one in hardship until he found the means, or gave him in charity what he was owed by him, saying: 'What you owe me is charity upon you, for the sake of Allah's pleasure,' and then tore up the (transaction) document." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith from Sayyiduna Abu al-Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) is mentioned in the "Sahih", and it is other than this hadith.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain is hasan (good).

وَعَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ تَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِ أَظَلَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَلَامٍ الْأَفْرِيقِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever gives respite to one in hardship, or gives (the payment due) to him in charity, Allah Almighty will keep him in His shade on the Day of Resurrection."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Sallam al-Ifriqi, who is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : أَشْهَدُ عَلَى حِبِّي - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " يُظِلُّ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ أَعَانَ أَخْرَقَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I bear witness concerning my beloved (that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) as I state this, that I heard him say: "On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will keep in His shade the one who gives respite to one in hardship, or helps a person unable to fend for himself."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Sa'id bin Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi, who is matruk (abandoned).

وَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَأَنْ يُظِلَّهُ تَحْتَ عَرْشِهِ فَلْيُنْظِرْ مُعْسِرًا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever would like Allah Almighty to rescue him from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection and to keep him in the shade of His Throne should give respite to one in hardship."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَظَلَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَكُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ يَزِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ النَّوْفَلِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship, Allah Almighty will shade him in His shade on the Day of Resurrection, and every good deed is charity."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Yazid bin Abd al-Malik al-Nawfali, who is da'if (weak).

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا إِلَى مَيْسَرَتِهِ أَنْظَرَهُ اللَّهُ بِذَنْبِهِ إِلَى نَوْبَتِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْجَارُودِ ؛ ضَعَّفَهُ الْأَزْدِيُّ . وَشَيْخُ الْحَكَمِ ، وَشَيْخُ شَيْخِهِ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمَا .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever grants a person in hardship respite until he is able to pay, Allah Almighty will grant him respite with respect to his sin until his turn."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hakam bin al-Jarud, whom al-Azdi declared da'if (weak); as for al-Hakam's teacher and his teacher's teacher, I do not know either of them.

وَعَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِثْلِهِ صَدَقَهٌ " . قَالَ : ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِثْلَيْهِ صَدَقَةٌ " . فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ : مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِثْلِهِ صَدَقَةٌ . ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِثْلَيْهِ صَدَقَةٌ " . قَالَ : " لَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ صَدَقَةٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَحِلَّ الدَّيْنُ ، فَإِذَا حَلَّ فَأَنْظَرَهُ فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِثْلَيْهِ صَدَقَةٌ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى ابْنُ مَاجَهْ طَرَفًا مِنْهُ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, for every single day, the reward of giving that same amount in charity." The narrator says: Then I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, every day, the reward of giving double that amount in charity." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! First I heard you say that whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, every day, the reward of giving that same amount in charity. Then I heard you say: 'Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, every day, the reward of giving double that amount in charity.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before the time for repaying the debt has come, he receives every day the reward of giving that same amount in charity; and when that time has passed and he still grants him respite, he receives every day the reward of giving double that amount in charity." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded part of this narration.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

وَعَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا كَانَ لِلرَّجُلِ عَلَى رَجُلٍ حَقٌّ ، فَأَخَّرَهُ إِلَى أَجَلِهِ كَانَ لَهُ صَدَقَةٌ ، فَإِنْ أَخَّرَهُ بَعْدَ أَجَلِهِ كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ يَوْمٍ صَدَقَةٌ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْأَعْمَى ، وَهُوَ كَذَّابٌ .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man has a right due from another man and he defers it until its appointed term, he will receive the reward of charity; and if he defers it even after its appointed term, he will receive every day the reward of giving that same amount in charity."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Dawud al-A'ma (the blind), who is a kadhdhab (liar).
