Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, for every single day, the reward of giving that same amount in charity." The narrator says: Then I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, every day, the reward of giving double that amount in charity." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! First I heard you say that whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, every day, the reward of giving that same amount in charity. Then I heard you say: 'Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship will receive, every day, the reward of giving double that amount in charity.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before the time for repaying the debt has come, he receives every day the reward of giving that same amount in charity; and when that time has passed and he still grants him respite, he receives every day the reward of giving double that amount in charity." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded part of this narration.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
