Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood between the rows of the men and the women and said: "O assembly of women, when you hear the voice of this Abyssinian and hear his iqamah, say the same words that he says, for in return for every single letter there is the reward of a thousand thousand (that is, one million) ranks." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This virtue is for the women; what is there for the men?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Umar, double that." I say: This hadith will come in full in the chapter on marriage, in the chapter on the husband's right over the wife.

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to say: Four things are part of coarseness (jafa'): that a man hears the mu'adhdhin saying "Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, ashhadu an la ilaha illallah (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah)" and then does not say the like of what he is saying; that a man wipes his face (that is, clears away dust and the like) before completing his prayer; that a man urinates standing; and that a man prays in such a way that there is nothing between him and the qiblah to serve as a sutrah (screen) for him.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; the narrator al-Musayyab bin Rafi' did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
