Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood between the rows of the men and the women and said: "O assembly of women, when you hear the voice of this Abyssinian and hear his iqamah, say the same words that he says, for in return for every single letter there is the reward of a thousand thousand (that is, one million) ranks." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This virtue is for the women; what is there for the men?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Umar, double that." I say: This hadith will come in full in the chapter on marriage, in the chapter on the husband's right over the wife.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir with two chains. In one of them it is mentioned that al-Jazari narrated it from Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I do not know this man. The narrator Abbad bin Kathir has weakness in him, though a group declared him thiqah (trustworthy), and the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy). In the other chain there is a group of people whom I do not know.
