حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله بن عتَّاب العَبْدي، حدثنا أبو قِلَابة عبد الملك بن محمد، حدثنا سعيد بن عامر حدثنا شُبَيل بن عَزْرة، قال: انطَلَقْنا بقَتَادة نقودُه إلى أنس ونحن غِلمةٌ، فدخلنا عليه، قال: ما أحسنَ هذا! ثم تكلَّم بكلام يُرغِّبُهم في طلب العلم، قال: فحدَّثَنا يومئذٍ أَنَّ رسولَ الله ﷺ قال: "مَثَلُ الجليسِ الصالح مَثَلُ العطَّار، إن لم يُعطِكَ من عِطْرِه - أو قال: إن لم تُصِبْ من عطرِه - أصابَك من ريحِه" (1). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. Shubayl bin Azrah said: We were boys, and we took Qatadah, leading him by the hand, to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). When we came in to him, he said: How good this is! Then he spoke words encouraging them to seek knowledge, and that day he narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of a righteous companion is like that of a perfume seller: even if he does not give you any of his perfume, or he said: even if you do not get any of his perfume, its fragrance will still reach you."

حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن نصير الخُلدي، حدثنا يحيى بن أيوب العلَّاف بمصر، حدثنا سعيد بن أبي مريم، حدثنا يحيى بن أيوب، حدثني حُمَيد الطويل، قال: سمعتُ أنس بن مالك يقول: كان رسولُ الله ﷺ إِذا مَشَى كأَنَّه يتوكَّأ (2). قال ابن أبي مريم: وأخبرنا غيرُ ابن أيوب بالحديث فقال: كأنه يتكفَّأ. هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين ولم يُخرجاه. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) walked, it seemed as though he (peace and blessings be upon him) was walking leaning forward (with dignity). In a narration of Ibn Abi Maryam the word "yatakaffa'" (like a ship swaying as it moves on the sea) has come for this.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a leather strap be cut while held between two fingers.

حدثنا علي بن محمد بن عُقبة الشَّيباني، حدثنا محمد بن علي بن عفّان، حدثنا قبيصة بن عُقبة، حدثنا سفيان، عن الأسود بن قيس، عن نُبَيح (1) العَنَزَي، عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: كان رسولُ الله ﷺ إذا خرجَ من بيته مَشَيْنا قُدَّامَه، وتَرَكْنا خلفَه للملائكة (2). Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out (of his house), we would walk in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him) and leave the space behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) for the angels.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not walk in front of me or directly behind me, for this is the place of the angels." Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to come running to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as swiftly as a flying spark.

It is narrated from Abu Mijlaz that Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man sitting in the middle of a circle and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who sits right in the middle of a circle.

حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، حدثنا مُسدَّد، حدثنا إسماعيل ابن عُليَّة، عن داود بن أبي هِند، عن الشَّعْبي، حدثنا أبو جَبِيرة بن الضحَّاك، قال: فينا نزلت في بني سَلِمةَ ﴿وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا بِالْأَلْقَابِ﴾ [الحجرات: 11] قال: قَدِمَ رسول الله ﷺ وليس منَّا رجلٌ إِلَّا وله اسمانِ أو ثلاثة، قال: فكان يُدعَى الرجلُ فيقولون: مَهْ مَهْ مَهْ، إنه يَغضبُ من هذا، فنزلت ﴿وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا بِالْأَلْقَابِ﴾ (1). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. Abu Jabirah bin al-Dahhak (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the verse "And do not call one another by (offensive) nicknames" [Surah al-Hujurat: 11] was revealed concerning our tribe, Banu Salimah. He said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came (to Madinah), every one of us had two or three names. When a man was called by one of his names, people would say: Stop! He dislikes this name and becomes angry at it. Then this verse was revealed: "Do not call one another by offensive nicknames."
