It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever visits a sick person whose appointed time of death has not yet come, and recites this supplication seven times in his presence: 'As'alullahal-'azim, rabbal-'arshil-'azim, an yashfiyak' (I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure you), then Allah Almighty will certainly grant him relief from that illness."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever visits a Muslim brother of his, sits by his head, and says seven times: 'As'alullahal-'azim, rabbal-'arshil-'azim an yashfiyak' (I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure you), then, if his appointed time of death has not come, he will certainly be cured."
This hadith is a supporting narration (shahid) that is sahih (authentic) and gharib (rare), narrated by the Egyptians from the Madinans and by the Madinans from the Kufans; we have written it with a high (short) chain only through this route. In this hadith, al-Hajjaj bin Artah contradicted the trustworthy narrators.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no Muslim who visits a brother of his and enters upon him while his appointed time of death has not yet come, and then says seven times: 'As'alullahal-'azim, rabbal-'arshil-'azim, an yashfiya fulanan min maradih' (I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure so-and-so of his illness), except that Allah will certainly cure him."
This is not a narration to be counted as a contradiction, because al-Hajjaj bin Artah is lower than Abd Rabbih bin Sa'id and Abu Khalid al-Dalani in memorisation and precision; if the hadith of Abdullah bin al-Harith is established through this narration, it becomes a supporting narration (shahid) for the hadith of Sa'id bin Jubayr.

It is narrated from Nafi' bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was afflicted with such severe pain that it had almost incapacitated him. He mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Place your right hand on the spot where you feel pain, wipe it seven times, and each time you wipe, say: 'A'udhu bi-'izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajid' (I seek refuge in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel)."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it with these words; however, Imam Muslim recorded it with different wording.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that two men set out seeking a cure for their father from retention of urine. They came to Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned the ailment, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'Rabbunallahul-ladhi fis-sama', taqaddasa-smuk, amruka fis-sama'i wal-ard, kama rahmatuka fis-sama'i faj'al rahmataka fil-ard, waghfir lana dhunubana wa khatayana, innaka rabbut-tayyibin, fa-anzil rahmatan min rahmatik, wa shifa'an min shifa'ik 'ala hadhal-waja', fa-yabra'' (Our Lord is Allah who is in the heaven; holy is Your name; Your command prevails in the heaven and the earth; just as Your mercy is in the heaven, so place Your mercy on the earth; forgive us our sins and our faults; indeed You are the Lord of the pure; so send down a mercy from Your mercy and a cure from Your cure upon this pain, so that he recovers). Then he will recover by the command of Allah.
The two Shaykhs used all the narrators of this hadith as evidence except Ziyadah bin Muhammad, who is a shaykh from Egypt with few hadith.
