The supplication by which Allah cures a sick person whose appointed time has not come
Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1286

أخبرَناه أبو العباس محمد بن أحمد المحبوبي بمَرْو، حدثنا سعيد بن مسعود، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا الحجّاج بن أرْطاة، عن المِنهال بن عمرو، عن عبد الله بن الحارث، عن ابن عباسٍ، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "ما من مسلمٍ عادَ أخاه، فدخل عليه ولم يَحضُرْ أجلُه، فقال: أسألُ الله العظيم، ربَّ العرش العظيم، أن يَشفِيَ فلانًا من مَرَضِه، سبعَ مراتٍ، إِلَّا شَفَاه الله منه" (1). هذا مما لا يُعَدُّ خلافًا، فإنَّ الحجاج بن أرْطاة دون عبد ربِّه بن سعيد وأبي خالد الدَّالاني في الحفظ والإتقان، فإن ثَبَتَ حديثُ عبد الله بن الحارث من هذه الرواية فإنه شاهدٌ لسعيد بن جُبير.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no Muslim who visits a brother of his and enters upon him while his appointed time of death has not yet come, and then says seven times: 'As'alullahal-'azim, rabbal-'arshil-'azim, an yashfiya fulanan min maradih' (I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure so-and-so of his illness), except that Allah will certainly cure him."
This is not a narration to be counted as a contradiction, because al-Hajjaj bin Artah is lower than Abd Rabbih bin Sa'id and Abu Khalid al-Dalani in memorisation and precision; if the hadith of Abdullah bin al-Harith is established through this narration, it becomes a supporting narration (shahid) for the hadith of Sa'id bin Jubayr.
This is not a narration to be counted as a contradiction, because al-Hajjaj bin Artah is lower than Abd Rabbih bin Sa'id and Abu Khalid al-Dalani in memorisation and precision; if the hadith of Abdullah bin al-Harith is established through this narration, it becomes a supporting narration (shahid) for the hadith of Sa'id bin Jubayr.

(1) حديث جيد والحجّاج بن أرطاة ليس بذاك القوي خاصة عند المخالفة، وقد خولف كما سبق.
Grading: (1) The hadith is "jayyid", but Hajjaj bin Artah is not a strong narrator, especially when he contradicts trustworthy narrators.
وأخرجه أحمد 5/ (3298) عن يزيد بن هارون بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (5/3298) narrated it via the chain of Yazid bin Harun with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 4/ (2138) عن أبي معاوية محمد بن خازم الضرير، والنسائي (10816) من طريق حفص بن غياث، كلاهما عن حجاج بن أرطاة، به. ووقع في رواية أبي معاوية قال: أُراه رفعه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad and al-Nasa'i (10816) narrated it via the chains of Abu Mu'awiyah and Hafs bin Ghiyath through Hajjaj bin Artah.
