Abu al-Aliyah narrates from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "The sun went into eclipse in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer and recited one of the long surahs. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) made five bowings and two prostrations. Then he stood up for the second rak'ah and recited from the long surahs, then made five bowings and two prostrations. Then he stood up for the third rak'ah and recited from the long surahs, then made five bowings and two prostrations. Then he remained sitting as he was, facing the Qiblah, supplicating until the solar eclipse cleared."
The two Shaykhs abandoned Abu Ja'far al-Razi and did not narrate from him, but in the view of the other Imams his standing is very good. This hadith contains certain wordings, and its narrators are truthful.

Hadith Grading
Abu Qilabah narrates from Qabisah al-Hilali (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "The sun went into eclipse in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out alarmed, dragging his garment, and on that day I was with him (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) led two rak'ahs and stood long in them. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, and the eclipse had cleared. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'These are signs by which Allah Almighty makes people fear. So when you see them, meaning the eclipse, pray a prayer like the most recent obligatory prayer that you have prayed.'"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. In my view, they considered it defective because of the hadith narrated by Rayhan bin Sa'id from Abbad bin Mansur, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Hilal bin Amir, from Qabisah; yet the hadith of Rayhan and Abbad does not make defective the hadith narrated by Musa bin Isma'il from Wuhayb.

Urwah narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: "The sun went into eclipse in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and led the people in prayer." She said: "I estimated his (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation and it seemed to me that he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah al-Baqarah. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) made two prostrations. Then he stood up and made a long recitation; I estimated his (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation and it seemed to me that he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al Imran."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it; however, they agreed on the hadith of al-Zuhri and Hisham from Urwah with other wording.

Ubaydullah bin al-Nadr narrates from his father, who said: Darkness fell in the time of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). I came to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "O Abu Hamzah! Did you people face anything like this in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "Refuge is with Allah! If ever the wind blew strongly, we would rush to the mosque for fear of the Resurrection."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. This Ubaydullah is the son of al-Nadr bin Anas bin Malik, and the two Shaykhs used al-Nadr as evidence.
