Mujahid from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Jallalah (animals that feed on filth) have been forbidden."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever asks you by Allah, give him; whoever seeks refuge in Allah, grant him refuge; whoever invites you, accept his invitation; and whoever does you a kindness, repay him. If you do not find anything with which to repay him, then pray for him until he sees that you have repaid him."

A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The fly is in the Fire," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing the honeybee and burning food in the land of the enemy.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every fly is in the Fire except the honeybee."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The mu'adhdhin is forgiven as far as his voice reaches, and every moist and dry thing bears witness in his favour."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my shoulder and said: "Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveller."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Permit the women to go to the mosque at night." Thereupon his son said: By Allah, we will not permit them, for they will make it a means of mischief. At this he said: "May Allah do such and such to you, and such and such! You hear me saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and you say: No!" Layth says in his narration: And they should go out without perfume.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not prevent the women from the mosques at night." Thereupon his son said: By Allah, we will certainly prevent them. At this he stretched out his hand, slapped him and said: "I narrate to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you say this?"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The moon was split in two in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of your amusements, the angels attend nothing except horse racing and archery contests."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, if only we took the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer! Then this verse was revealed: "And take the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer" [Surah al-Baqarah: 125].

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take from this and leave this" - meaning that (a man) should take from his chin tuft (the hair below the lower lip) and leave his beard.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the effeminate among men and the women who imitate men.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever denies his child in order to disgrace him in this world, Allah Almighty will disgrace him on the Day of Resurrection before all witnesses, retribution for retribution."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the stoning of the Jamarat: what benefit is there in it for him? Then I heard him say: "You will find it with your Lord at the time when you are most in need of it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever asks you by Allah, give to him; whoever seeks refuge with you by Allah, grant him refuge; whoever invites you, accept his invitation; and whoever gives you even a trotter as a gift, accept it."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the Isha prayer so long that the one who prays had prayed, the one who wakes had woken, the sleepers had slept, and those who pray tahajjud had prayed tahajjud. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and said: "Were it not that I would burden my Ummah, I would have ordered them to pray this prayer at this time," or he said something similar.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The people of Hell will be made enormous in the Fire, until the distance between the earlobe of one of them and his shoulder becomes the distance of a seven-hundred-year journey, the thickness of his skin will be forty cubits, and his molar tooth will be bigger than Mount Uhud." And the wording of both narrators is the same.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stand up for the funeral of a Jew that passed by him (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us to follow a funeral in which there was wailing.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade mutilation (disfiguring a body by cutting off its limbs).

Mujahid narrates: I was with Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a man made the tathwib (a second call after the adhan) at Zuhr and Asr. So he said: "This is an innovation (bid'ah); take us away from here, this is an innovation."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions arrived intending Hajj, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, enter ihram for Umrah, except the one who has a sacrificial animal (hady) with him, for Umrah has entered into Hajj until the Day of Resurrection."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does not show mercy is not shown mercy."

Mujahid narrates that a man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he asked him: How are you and Abu Unays - meaning al-Dahhak bin Qays? He said: As for us and him, when we meet him we say to him what he likes, and when we turn our backs on him we say something else. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "This is what we used to count as hypocrisy while we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."

A man asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about fadikh. He said: What is fadikh? He said: We crush unripe dates, then mix dried dates with them, then leave it and drink it. He said: "That is fadukh. Wine has been forbidden, and what you mention was generally their drink."

A man asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about fadikh. He said: What is fadikh? He said: Unripe dates and dried dates. He said: "That is fadukh. Wine has been forbidden, and this was our drink."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever drinks wine and puts it into his stomach, his prayer is not accepted for seven (days), and if he dies in that state he dies a disbeliever. And if it makes his mind heedless of any of the obligations, his prayer is not accepted for forty days, and if he dies in that state he dies a disbeliever."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Qul huwa Allahu ahad is equal to a third of the Qur'an, and Qul ya ayyuha al-kafirun is equal to a quarter of the Qur'an," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite these two surahs in the two rak'ahs of Fajr, and he said: "In these two rak'ahs lies what is desirable for all time."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of you are those who are softest of shoulders in prayer (when the rows are formed)."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and shook hands with him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not withdraw his hand from the man's hand until the man himself withdrew his hand. Then he said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about Uthman? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is a man from the people of Paradise."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever visits my grave after my death is like one who visited me in my lifetime."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs Hajj and visits my grave after my death is like one who visited me in my lifetime."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us to follow a funeral in which there is wailing.

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: He forbade us, or (he said:) we were forbidden, to pray in a mosque with battlements (raised high).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O son of Adam, guarantee Me two rak'ahs at the beginning of the day, and I will suffice you for the rest of it."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever drags his lower garment out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection."

And Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not abandon the two rak'ahs before the Fajr prayer, for in them there is great reward and virtue to be desired."

And Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not deny your child, lest Allah Almighty disgrace you before all of creation just as you disgraced him in this world."
