حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ صَلَاحٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِذْ أَتَى رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَصَافَحَهُ فَلَمْ يَنْزِعْ يَدَهُ مِنْ يَدِ الرَّجُلِ حَتَّى انْتَزَعَ الرَّجُلُ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا عُثْمَانُ؟ قَالَ: «ذَاكَ امْرُؤٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and shook hands with him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not withdraw his hand from the man's hand until the man himself withdrew his hand. Then he said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about Uthman? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is a man from the people of Paradise."
