Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin Hammar al-Ghatafani (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Evil is the servant who adopts arrogance and self-conceit and forgets the Most Great, the Most High. Evil is the servant who deceitfully seeks the world by means of religion. Evil is the servant who makes unlawful things lawful on the basis of doubtful matters. Evil is the servant who is enslaved by a desire that leads him astray. Evil is the servant who is enslaved by a craving that humiliates him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Talhah bin Zayd al-Raqqi, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the matter with people that they incline towards the wealthy and look down upon the worshippers? They act upon the part of the Qur'an that agrees with their desires and abandon the part that goes against their desires. In such a state they believe in part of the Book and disbelieve in part. They strive for that which can be obtained without striving — that which relates to the decreed destiny, the appointed term and the apportioned provision — and they do not strive for that which can only be attained through striving — that which relates to the abundant reward, the striving that is accepted, and a trade that will not suffer loss."

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abza (may Allah be pleased with him) states: Sayyiduna Dawud (peace be upon him) said: "Be like a merciful father to the orphan, and know that as you sow, so shall you reap. The example of a righteous woman for her husband is like a crown made of gold; whenever a man looks at it, his eyes are delighted by it. And the example of a bad woman for her husband is like a heavy load placed upon an old man. Know that the speech of a foolish person in the gathering of his people is like someone singing at the head of a dead person. If you make a promise to your brother and then do not fulfill it, this will create enmity between you and him. We seek refuge in Allah from a companion who, if you remember Allah, does not help you, and if you forget Him, does not remind you — and that is Satan. And take care that whatever you would dislike being mentioned about you in the gathering of your people, you do not do it even in private."
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains, and the narrators of one of them are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Kabshah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: "During the Battle of Tabuk, people hurried towards al-Hijr (that is, the town of the people of Thamud) in order to enter it. Then it was announced among the people: 'Let everyone assemble.'" The narrator says: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was holding his camel, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On what basis do you want to enter the land of a people upon whom Allah Almighty sent down His wrath?" A man from among them called out loudly to him: "O Messenger of Allah! Do you marvel at them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you of something more astonishing than that? Your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) tells you about what happened before you and what will happen after you. Remain upright and stay on the right course, for Allah Almighty will not care in the least about punishing you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it via al-Mas'udi, who had become confused (ikhtilat) in his memory; the rest of its narrators have been declared trustworthy.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Whoever shows off, Allah Almighty will expose his showing off; whoever seeks fame, Allah Almighty will expose his seeking of fame; whoever tries to raise himself up to appear great, Allah Almighty will bring him low; and whoever adopts humility out of fear (of Allah), Allah Almighty will grant him elevation. Some people are given abundance in this world, and they will meet with hardship in the Hereafter; and some are given hardship in this world, and they will be granted abundance in the Hereafter. One person is one who attains deliverance, and another is one from whom deliverance is attained." We said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what is meant by the one who attains deliverance and the one from whom deliverance is attained?" He said: "As for the one who attains deliverance, it means the believer: when he dies, he attains deliverance (from the troubles of the world). As for the person from whom deliverance is attained, he is the one who oppresses people and backbites about them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains al-Mas'udi, who had become confused (ikhtilat) in his memory.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Whatever is coming is near; far is only that which is not coming. Allah Almighty does not hasten because of anyone's wish for haste. What happens is what Allah wills, not what people will. Allah Almighty intends one matter and people intend another, but what Allah Almighty wills is what happens, even if people consider it far off. There is none to bring near what Allah Almighty puts far, and none to put far what Allah Almighty brings near. Everything happens by the command of Allah. The most truthful speech is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The worst of matters are the newly invented ones; every newly invented thing is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance. The best of what is placed in the heart is certainty; the best richness is richness of the soul; the best knowledge is that which benefits; and the best guidance is that which is followed. What is little but suffices is better than what is much but distracts. The final destination of each one of you is a place of four cubits, so do not make people weary and fed up. Every person is at times cheerful and attentive, and at times weary and inattentive. The worst thing is lying. Beware! Lying leads to sin, and sin leads to Hell. You must hold to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. Take heed of this, for these are two things that go together. It will be said of the truthful person: 'He has spoken the truth,' until he is recorded as truthful; and the liar keeps on lying until he is recorded as a liar. Beware! Lying is not permissible in any situation, whether in seriousness or in jest, nor should a man make a promise to his child and then not fulfill it. And do not ask the People of the Book about anything, for a long time has passed over them, their hearts have hardened, and they have introduced new things into their religion. If you must ask them something, then take whatever agrees with your Book, and dissociate yourselves from whatever goes against it and remain silent."

Hadith Takhrij «
It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited this verse: "Rather, you prefer the life of this world." Then he said: "Do you know with what the worldly life began? And why do we prefer the worldly life? The world has been given to us quickly, and we have been given its pleasure and beauty, while the Hereafter is hidden from us and has been folded away from us; so we love what comes quickly and abandon what comes later."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who had become confused (ikhtilat) in his memory, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "People are in two states: one sells himself and makes himself a slave, and another buys himself and sets himself free. Charity is a proof, charity is a shield, fasting is a shield, prayer is light, and tranquility is a gain while abandoning it is a loss."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is jayyid (good).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Umarah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Sa'd bin Bakr and had the honor of being a Companion, that a man said to him: "Give me some advice concerning myself, may Allah Almighty have mercy on you!" He said: "When you are about to perform prayer, first perform ablution well, for the one who has no ablution has no prayer, and the one who has no prayer has no faith. Then, when you pray, pray as one who is departing would pray. Abandon seeking most of your needs, for that is a poverty that is present. Despair of what is in people's hands, for that is true richness. And examine which word or deed requires an apology, and avoid it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
