Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17735

Al-Hasan states: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If I were to stand between Paradise and Hell, and it were said to me: 'We give you the choice regarding these two; choose whichever of them is more beloved to you, or else become ashes' — Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: then I would prefer to become ashes."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that I have not found any report of al-Hasan al-Basri having heard from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
