Ma'n bin Abd al-Rahman states: A man said to Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Give me advice in comprehensive and beneficial words." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Worship Allah Almighty and do not associate anyone with Him as a partner; stay with the Qur'an wherever it is; whoever brings you the truth, accept it from him even if he is a distant person; and whoever brings you falsehood, reject it, even if that person is a dear friend and close to you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that Ma'n did not meet the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
