Abu Sinan al-Du'ali states that he came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) while some of the early Muhajirun were with him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent for a box that had been brought from a fortress in Iraq, and in it was a ring. One of the children of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took it and put it in his mouth, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took the ring from him. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep. One of those who were with him asked: "Why are you weeping, when Allah Almighty has granted you victory, given you dominance over your enemy, and delighted your eyes?" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whenever the world is opened up for anyone, Allah Almighty casts enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection.'" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "So I fear that."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar, and Abu Ya'la in al-Kabir recorded it; Ahmad's chain is hasan (good).

A large number of the Ansar attended the dawn prayer, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, they presented themselves before him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them, he smiled and said: "Perhaps you have received the news that Abu Ubaydah has come and has brought wealth?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Receive glad tidings and hope for good. By Allah, I do not fear poverty for you; rather, when the world is poured out upon you, you will become eager for it, just as those before you became eager for it."
