Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Richness does not come from an abundance of goods; true richness is the richness of the soul (that is, of the heart)."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and Abu Ya'la also recorded it; the narrators of Tabarani are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "O Abu Dharr! Do you think that having much wealth is richness?" I said: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you think that having little wealth is poverty?" I said: "Yes!" This exchange took place three times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Richness is in the heart, and poverty is in the heart. Whoever has richness in his heart, nothing he meets in this world will harm him; and whoever has poverty in his heart, however much of this world is increased for him, it will not make him rich. And it is only its own greed that harms the soul."
Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: A hadith will come later about the person who devotes himself to worship, that Allah Almighty fills his heart with richness.
