Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) states: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head, looked towards the sky and said: "The people of Yemen will come to you like pieces of cloud (bringing benefit), and they are the best of the people of the earth." (The narrator states:) One of those present with him said: "O Messenger of Allah! And from among us?" (That is, are some of us also among the best?) So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a low voice: "Except that your case is different."

In one narration the words are: "We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the road to Makkah when he said: 'The people of Yemen will come to you; they will be like clouds (bringing benefit), and they will be the best of the people on the face of the earth.' A man from the Ansar said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Are we not?' (That is, are we not the best people on the face of the earth?) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. The man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Are we not?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. The man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Are we not?' Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a low voice: 'Except that your case is different.'"
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, but Abu Ya'la recorded these words: "A man from the Ansar said: 'Except that our case is different.'" Al-Bazzar recorded something similar. The narrators of one of Ahmad's two chains, and of the chains of Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar, are the narrators of the Sahih.

I am sending you to a people whose hearts are soft, and who fight for the truth twice. Fight, together with those of them who obey you, against those who disobey you. Then they will return to Islam, until (in accepting Islam) the woman will race ahead of her husband, the child ahead of his father, and the brother ahead of his brother. Settle between the two tribes, al-Sakun and al-Sakasik."

Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd (may Allah be pleased with him) states: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Curse the people of Yemen, for they are formidable fighters, their numbers are great and their fortresses are strong." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the non-Arabs. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When they (that is, the people of Yemen) pass by you, they will be travelling with their women, carrying their children on their shoulders. They are from me and I am from them."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, but al-Tabarani recorded these words: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the non-Arabs, that is, the people of Persia and the people of Rome." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the people of Yemen pass by you, they will be travelling with their women, carrying their children on their shoulders. They are from me and I am from them." The chain of both reports is hasan (good), and the narrator Baqiyyah has explicitly stated that he heard it directly.

Hadith Takhrij «
Sayyiduna Abu Thawr al-Fahmi (may Allah be pleased with him) states: One day we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a garment of Ma'afiri cloth (that is, Yemeni cloth) was brought. Abu Sufyan said: "May Allah Almighty curse this garment, and curse whoever makes it." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not curse them! For they are from me and I am from them."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the chain of both is hasan (good).

Hadith Takhrij «
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) states: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us while we were sitting. We made room for him and he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Where are those Companions of mine, of whom I am and who are of me? When I enter Paradise, they will enter it with me." We said: "O Messenger of Allah! Will you tell us?" (That is, who is meant by this?) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! They are the people of Yemen, who are pushed away to the far ends of the earth and turned away from the doors of the rulers; one of them dies with his need still in his breast, never having fulfilled it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a group of narrators about whom there is disagreement.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Before this, some hadith have passed on the virtues of the various Arab tribes, which also include mention of the people of Yemen.
