The dates of death and birth of a group of the Companions, and the last of them to die

Al-Tabarani said: Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Amir bin Ka'b bin Sa'd bin Taym bin Murrah bin Ka'b bin Lu'ayy bin Ghalib bin Fihr bin Malik, (that is) Sayyiduna Abu Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with him). He accepted Islam on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, and he passed away in 14 AH, one year after the death of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him); at the time of his death he was 94 years old. He and his mother, Salma bint Sakhr bin Amir bin Amr bin Ka'b bin Sa'd bin Taym bin Murrah, inherited from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

Abu Mushir said: Sayyiduna al-Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in Syria, during the caliphate of Abd al-Malik bin Marwan, in 75 AH.

With the same chain he said: Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah bin Qays al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him), who belonged to the tribe of Murad, passed away in 72 AH, and he accepted Islam two years before the passing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Abu Abs bin Jabr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in Madinah in 34 AH, and at that time he was 70 years old. Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) led his funeral prayer, and Sayyiduna Abu Burdah bin Niyar (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Salamah bin Waqsh (may Allah be pleased with him) went down into his grave. The name of Sayyiduna Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him) is "Abd al-Rahman bin Jabr" (may Allah be pleased with him).

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, and he was buried at a place called "al-Habashi", one barid's distance from Makkah. This was in 55 AH or 56 AH.

Muhammad bin Ishaq said: Sayyiduna Amr bin Hazm al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 54 AH.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Imam al-Sha'bi said: When Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) sent the first expedition to Kufah, he sent Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah al-Thaqafi Abu al-Mukhtar (may Allah be pleased with him) in it, and he was martyred. Then he sent Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained there for five years; then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) removed him from his post. Then he sent Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained for one year; then he removed him from his post. Then he sent Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained there for one year; then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred. When Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) became caliph, he sent Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) to Kufah, and he remained there for one year; then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) removed him from his post. Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Sayyiduna al-Walid bin Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained governor there for five years; then he removed him from his post. Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Sayyiduna Sa'id bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained governor there for five years; then he removed him from that post. Then he sent Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) there, and he remained governor there for one year; then he removed him from his post. Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, and then the tribulation (fitnah) began.
When the caliphate of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) began, he appointed Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) governor of Kufah, and he held that post for four years; then he passed away. Then Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed Ziyad as governor of Kufah; he remained for four years, then he died. Then he sent Sayyiduna al-Dahhak bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained governor for three years; then he removed him from his post. Then he sent Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained governor for four months. Then Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away and the tribulation came, and then the affair of Sayyiduna Muslim bin Aqil (may Allah be pleased with him) and his companions took place.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains more than one da'if (weak) narrator who has nevertheless been declared trustworthy.

Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr said: Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred in the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah in the year 16 AH.

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), whose kunyah was "Abu al-Abbas", passed away in Madinah in 91 AH, and at that time he was 99 years old.

He narrated a similar report on the authority of Ibn Numayr.

Al-Zuhri said: Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said, and he had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and also heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he stated that at the time of the passing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) he was fifteen years old.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: It is mentioned in the "Sahih" that he was present at the incident of the husband and wife who performed li'an (mutual imprecation), and at that time he was fifteen years old.

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Shurahbil bin Hasanah (may Allah be pleased with him), whose kunyah is Abu Abdullah, passed away in 18 AH or perhaps 17 AH; at that time he was 67 years old, and he was a governor appointed by Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).

Al-Harith bin Umayrah said: Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Shurahbil bin Hasanah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) were all struck by the plague on the same day.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Al-Haytham bin Adi said: Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan bin Harb (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away after 9 years of the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) had passed, and Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan bin Harb (may Allah be pleased with him) had lost his sight.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrator named al-Haytham is matruk (abandoned).

Al-Waqidi said: In that same year Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, and at that time he was 88 years old. The narrator says: that is, this happened in 31 AH.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators up to al-Waqidi are thiqat (trustworthy).

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Suhayb bin Sinan (may Allah be pleased with him), whose kunyah is Abu Yahya, passed away in Madinah in the month of Shawwal in 38 AH. He had been a captive from Mosul; the Romans had taken him captive.

Al-Tabarani said: Sayyiduna Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Umayyah bin Khalaf bin Wahb bin Jumah; his mother's name is Unaysah bint Ma'mar bin Habib bin Wahb bin Hudhafah bin Jumah. The kunyah of this Companion is Abu Wahb. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him a respite of four months. He took part in the Battle of Hunayn while he was still a polytheist, and after that he became a Muslim. He passed away around the time of the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him), whose name is Sayyiduna Suday bin Ajlan (may Allah be pleased with him), passed away in 86 AH, and at that time he was 91 years old.

Abu Nu'aym said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away in 68 AH.

Dawud bin Rushayd said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away in 68 AH.

Al-Tabarani said: Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Zam'ah bin al-Aswad bin al-Muttalib bin Abd al-Uzza bin Qusayy; his mother is Qaribah bint Abi Umayyah bin al-Mughirah bin Amr bin Makhzum, and that lady's mother is Atikah bint Abd al-Muttalib.

Nafi' bin Amr bin Jumah said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Jaz' (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 86 AH.
Al-Tabarani recorded it.

With the same chain, he said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 88 AH, and he was the last of the Companions to pass away in Syria; at that time he was 94 years old.

Al-Haytham bin Adi said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in the time of al-Walid bin Abd al-Malik, in 87 AH. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) was born during the blessed lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he was four, or perhaps five, years old.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrator al-Haytham is matruk (abandoned).

Imam al-Tabarani said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) settled in Kufah, and he passed away there.

He transmitted this statement of Yahya bin Bukayr: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 86 AH.

He transmitted this statement of al-Waqidi: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 84 AH. Its narrators up to al-Waqidi are thiqat (trustworthy).

Abu Abdullah al-Ash'ari said: Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 33 AH in Syria.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abu Abdullah al-Ash'ari, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Yahya bin Bukayr said: Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah passed away in 52 AH; at that time he was 77 years old.

Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr said: Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 52 AH; at that time he was 75 years old.

He transmitted this statement of Yahya bin Bukayr: Sayyiduna Makhramah bin Nawfal (may Allah be pleased with him), whose kunyah was Abu al-Miswar, passed away in 54 AH, and at that time he was 70 years old; according to one view he was 115 years old. He accepted Islam on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, and he was among the "Mu'allafat al-Qulub" (those whose hearts were to be reconciled).

With the same chain, he said: Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away on the day the news of the death of Yazid bin Mu'awiyah reached Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), and that was in the year 64 AH. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) led the funeral prayer of Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) at "al-Hajun". He had been struck by a stone from a catapult while he was praying in the Hijr (Hatim). He remained alive for five days, and then he passed away in the month of Rabi' al-Awwal; that was in the year 64 AH. He was brought to Madinah at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah in the year 8 AH. He was present at the Conquest of Makkah, and at that time he was 6 years old; when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he was 8 years old. The narrator said: That is, this concerns Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him).

With the same chain this is reported; he said: Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 85 AH; at that time he was 98 years old.

Sa'id bin Khalid said: Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 83 AH; at that time he was 105 years old.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrator Sa'id was declared da'if (weak) by the majority, while Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Al-Waqidi said: In that year Sayyiduna Abu Amrah al-Mazini (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away. The narrator said: That is, in the year 37 AH.
