Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "These lineages of yours are not such that you should revile anyone on account of them. You are the children of Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), a sa' measure falling short that you cannot fill (that is, every human being has some deficiency and shortcoming). No one has any superiority over anyone else, except for superiority in religion or righteous deeds. And it is enough (evil) for a man that he is obscene in speech, foul-tongued, miserly or cowardly."

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Consider this! For you are not better than anyone red-skinned (that is, fair-skinned) or black-skinned, unless you surpass him in taqwa."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani did not hear from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your Lord is one and your forefather is one. Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded something similar, except that he recorded these words: "Your forefather is one and your religion is one; your forefather is Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), and Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) was created from dust." The narrators of al-Bazzar are the narrators of the Sahih.

So Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Others are closer to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) than you, though you do have the honour of a lineage connection with him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher al-Miqdam bin Dawud, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When it is the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will command a herald to proclaim: 'Behold! I made a lineage and you made a lineage. I made the most honoured of you the one who is most God-fearing among you, but you refused that and said: "So-and-so, son of so-and-so, is better than so-and-so, son of so-and-so." Today I will raise My lineage and lower your lineage. Where are the God-fearing?'"

Qanbar, the doorkeeper of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) used to speak harshly to Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) complained about this to Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit, Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda', Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As and Sayyidah Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with them), and said: "You kept the company (of the Prophet) just as I kept it, and you saw just as I saw. If you see fit, speak to him." Then he sent for Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), and he came. They spoke to him, and Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Abu al-Walid! As for you, you accepted Islam before me, and you have seniority in age and excellence over me, and I would have thought you above a gathering such as this. O Abu al-Darda'! As for you, the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nearly passed you by, but then you accepted Islam and became one of the righteous Muslims. O Amr! As for you, you fought in jihad alongside the Messenger of Allah. O Umm Haram! As for you, you are a woman, and your understanding is the understanding of a woman, so what have you to do with this?" Then Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Certainly, I shall never sit in a gathering like this again."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains Qanbar, the doorkeeper of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him); Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned him and neither declared him thiqah (trustworthy) nor criticised him. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
