Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has seen me in a dream has indeed seen me in a state of wakefulness (that is, in reality he has seen me myself). Whoever sees in a dream that he is drinking milk, it will mean the fitrah (natural disposition). Whoever sees in a dream that there is a coat of iron armour on his body, it means the protection of his religion. Whoever sees in a dream that he is building a house, it means a deed that he will do. And whoever sees that he is drowning, he will go to Hell."

Sayyiduna Ibn Zumayl al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had prayed the Fajr prayer, he would fold his leg and say (that is, recite): "Glory be to Allah Almighty, and praise belongs to Him; and I seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty; indeed He is ever accepting of repentance." He would recite this seventy times, then say: "The reward of these seventy will be seven hundred, and there is no good for a person whose sins in a single day are more than seven hundred." Then he would turn his face towards the people. He liked dreams, and he would say: "Has any of you seen a (notable) dream?" Sayyiduna Ibn Zumayl (may Allah be pleased with him) says: (Once I said:) "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen one." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It will be good that you will meet, or evil from which you will be protected; it will be good for us and evil for our enemies. All praise belongs to Allah Almighty. Relate your dream." I said: "I saw in a dream that all the people were travelling on a wide and easy road. The people were going along that road, and that road ended at a pasture; my eyes have never seen a pasture like it. It was lush green, with various kinds of grass and herbage in it. It was as though I were among the people who went ahead. When those people reached that pasture, they said the takbir, and then they mounted their riding animals right there on the road. Some of them began grazing their mounts and some began making bundles of grass. While they were doing this, a great many people then came. When they reached the pasture, they said the takbir and said: 'This is the best place to halt.' It is as though I can still see them now, turning to the right and to the left. When I saw this, I kept to the road until I came to the farthest part of the pasture. There, O Messenger of Allah, I saw you seated upon a pulpit which had seven steps, and you were on its highest step. On your right was a man of wheat-coloured complexion and sturdy build; when he spoke he stood out, and he appeared remarkably tall. On your left was a man of moderate height and reddish complexion, with many moles on his face; it seemed as though drops of water were dripping from his hair. When he spoke, you all turned your full attention to him out of respect for him. In front of you all was an elderly man who, in physique and face, resembled you (peace and blessings be upon him) more than anyone else; everyone was making for him and seeking him. And there in front was a weak she-camel, and it seemed, O Messenger of Allah, as though you were avoiding it." The narrator relates: For a moment the colour of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, then that state passed from him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for the wide and easy road you saw, it means the guidance upon which you are travelling. As for the pasture you saw, it means this world and the comfort and luxury of its life. I and my Companions will depart from the world without having any connection with that luxury, and the world will have no connection with us. Then after us a second group will come, more numerous than us; some of them will take a little, and some will gather bundles. Then a great many people will come and spread out in the pasture to the right and to the left. So indeed we belong to Allah Almighty, and indeed to Him we shall return. As for you, you are travelling on an upright road and will keep going on it until you come to meet me. As for the pulpit that you saw with seven steps, with me on its highest step, the world will last seven thousand years, and I am in the last thousand years. As for the man you saw on my right, of wheat-coloured complexion and sturdy build, that was Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him); when he spoke he seemed superior to other people, because he had the distinction that Allah Almighty spoke with him. As for the man you saw on my left, of moderate height and reddish complexion with many moles on his face, as though water had been poured over his face, that was Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him), and this honouring was because Allah Almighty has honoured him. As for the elderly man whom you saw resembling me more than anyone in physique and appearance, that was our forefather Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him); we follow him and take him as our example. As for the she-camel that you saw, and saw me avoiding it, it means the Hour, which will be established upon us. There will be no prophet after me, and there is no nation after my nation." The narrator relates: After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not ask about any dream, except when a man would come and relate (his dream) to him of his own accord.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Sulayman bin Ata' al-Qurashi, who is da'if (weak).

Zakariyya bin Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Muti' reports from his father, from his grandfather: Sayyiduna Muti' bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) saw in a dream that a bag of dates was given to him as a gift. He mentioned this before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is any of your wives pregnant?" He replied: "Yes, (my) wife who belongs to Banu Layth is pregnant, and she is the mother of Abdullah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She will give birth to a son." Then that woman gave birth to a son, and Sayyiduna Muti' bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) brought that child to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named the child Abdullah, did tahnik for him with a date, and supplicated for blessing for him.

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah, I saw that 'three moons' came down into my chamber." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "If your dream is true, then in your house (the narrator says: I think the narration also has these words:) the most excellent of the people of Paradise will be buried." The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most excellent of (those three) moons; then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, and these noble ones were buried in the chamber of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).

Ayyub reported this narration from Nafi', from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), or perhaps from Muhammad bin Sirin, from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that she said: "I saw in a dream as though three moons came down into my chamber. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'If your dream is true, then the three best people of the earth will be buried in your house.' When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): 'O Aishah, this is the best of your (that is, of the three you saw) moons.' Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) were also buried in the chamber of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and this is its wording; in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat he recorded it from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) without any doubt. The narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are the narrators of the Sahih.
