Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Divorce is only for the waiting period ('iddah), and freeing (a slave) is only for the sake of Allah Almighty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ahmad bin Sa'id bin Farqad, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever frees a believing neck (that is, a male or female slave), it becomes his ransom from Hell."
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Qays al-Judhami, and no one has declared him weak.

Shu'bah al-Kufi narrates: I was with Abu Burdah bin Abi Musa, and he said: O my son! Shall I not narrate to you a hadith that my father (Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever frees a slave, Allah Almighty frees, in exchange for each limb of that slave, each limb of (the one who freed him) from Hell."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and he said: This narration is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) only with this chain; the narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Malik bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever takes an orphan of Muslim parents to share his food and drink until he becomes independent of him, Paradise becomes definitely obligatory for him. And whoever frees a Muslim, (the freed slave) will become his means of rescue from Hell; each limb of (the freed slave) will be an expiation for each limb of (the one who freed him)."

Ahmad recorded it, and it is a longer narration than this; it is also in the chapter on righteousness and maintaining family ties. Its chain contains a narrator, Ali bin Zayd, in whom there is weakness, and he is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith).

Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Hariz, whom Ibn Hibban and, according to one report, Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy), while the majority of the imams declared him da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which part of the night is most listened to (for the acceptance of supplication)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The last half of the night. Then after that, prayer is accepted until true dawn breaks. Then no (voluntary) prayer is to be offered until the sun has risen the height of one spear or two spears. Then prayer is accepted until the shadow is the length of a spear. Then no (voluntary) prayer is to be offered until the sun passes the meridian. Then prayer is accepted until the sun remains (towards setting) the height of one or two spears. Then no prayer is to be offered until the sun sets. The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any Muslim man who frees a Muslim man, (the freed one) becomes a means of rescue from Hell for (the one who freed him); each of his bones suffices in place of each of his bones. And any Muslim woman who frees a Muslim woman, she becomes a means of rescue from Hell for her; each of her bones suffices in place of each of her bones. And any Muslim man who frees two Muslims, both of them become a means of rescue from Hell for him; each of the bones of the two suffices in place of a bone of his."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; the narrator named Abu Salamah did not hear from his father, and the rest of its narrators are such that their hadith is hasan (good).
