Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which part of the night is most listened to (for the acceptance of supplication)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The last half of the night. Then after that, prayer is accepted until true dawn breaks. Then no (voluntary) prayer is to be offered until the sun has risen the height of one spear or two spears. Then prayer is accepted until the shadow is the length of a spear. Then no (voluntary) prayer is to be offered until the sun passes the meridian. Then prayer is accepted until the sun remains (towards setting) the height of one or two spears. Then no prayer is to be offered until the sun sets. The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any Muslim man who frees a Muslim man, (the freed one) becomes a means of rescue from Hell for (the one who freed him); each of his bones suffices in place of each of his bones. And any Muslim woman who frees a Muslim woman, she becomes a means of rescue from Hell for her; each of her bones suffices in place of each of her bones. And any Muslim man who frees two Muslims, both of them become a means of rescue from Hell for him; each of the bones of the two suffices in place of a bone of his."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; the narrator named Abu Salamah did not hear from his father, and the rest of its narrators are such that their hadith is hasan (good).
