Book of Freeing Slaves
بَابٌ فِيمَنْ أَعْتَقَ رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً .
One who frees a believing slave

وَعَنْ أَبِي سُكَيْنَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِذَا مَلَكَ أَحَدُكُمْ شَيْئًا فِيهِ ثَمَنُ رَقَبَةٍ فَلْيُعْتِقْهَا ، فَإِنَّهُ يَفْدِي كُلَّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ، وَفِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sukaynah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When one of you comes to own something that is worth the price of freeing a slave, he should free a slave, for each limb of (the freed one) will become a ransom for each limb of (the one who freed him)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Rabi'ah al-Saghani, who is matruk (abandoned).
