Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this as a "marfu'" hadith: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wala' (the tie of clientship) is not transferred and is not changed."

Sayyiduna Ghaylan bin Salamah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Nafi' Abu al-Sa'ib, who was the slave of Ghaylan, ran away and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This was at the time when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was besieging Ta'if. He accepted Islam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared him free. When Sayyiduna Ghaylan (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the wala' of Nafi' to him.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and he said: To our knowledge, only this hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Ghaylan (may Allah be pleased with him). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Its chain contains Urwah bin Ghaylan, whom I do not know; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Sayyidah Salma bint Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A freed slave of hers died and left behind a daughter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave his daughter half of the wealth, and gave Ya'la half of the wealth; he was the son of Sayyidah Salma (may Allah be pleased with her).
Ahmad recorded it.

this report: She narrates: A slave of ours died and left behind a daughter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divided his wealth between me and his daughter; he gave half of the wealth to me and half to that girl.
Al-Tabarani recorded it with several chains, some of whose narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. The chain of Ahmad is likewise, except that Qatadah did not hear from Sayyidah Salma (may Allah be pleased with her).
