وَعَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The right of wala' belongs to the one who frees (the slave)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, and his hadith is hasan (good).
