Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali, perform ablution thoroughly even if it is hard on you; do not eat charity (sadaqah); do not have donkeys mate with mares; and do not sit with astrologers."
Abdullah recorded it in his "Ziyadat", the additions he made to his father's "Musnad". Imam Abu Dawud recorded from this narration the part about having donkeys mate with mares. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Qasim bin Abd al-Rahman, and there is weakness in him.

Amr bin Abdullah bin Ka'b reports from a woman who had pledged allegiance (at the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) that she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, and with him (peace and blessings be upon him) were his Companions (peace and blessings be upon him) from Banu Salamah. We presented food to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions ate. Then we presented water for ablution to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he performed ablution. Then he turned to his Companions and said: Shall I not tell you about the things that wipe out sins? They said: Yes, indeed! (Please tell us.) Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Performing ablution thoroughly at times when it is disagreeable (to one's nature), taking many steps to the mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after a prayer.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain is muhtamal (tolerable).
