In al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) alone,
this report is recorded; he says: "Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: How excellent are those of my Ummah who do khilal! The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are those who do khilal? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who do khilal in ablution and those who do khilal after food. As for the khilal of ablution, it is in rinsing the mouth, putting water into the nose, and between the fingers; and as for the khilal of food, it is of the food (particles). For nothing is harder on the two angels (who stay with a person) than that they should see food between the teeth of their companion while he is standing in prayer." The chains of both these reports contain a narrator, Wasil al-Raqashi, who is da'if (weak).
