Majma al-Zawaid 1205 — Running the fingers through (khilal)

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: While performing ablution, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would run the water left over from his ablution through his beard, and would wipe his head with the water left over from (washing) his forearms.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Tammam bin Najih, whom Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and a group declared da'if (weak), while Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
