Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sabrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has forbidden you three things: qil wa qal ('it was said' and 'he said', that is, needless argument), asking (needless) questions excessively, and wasting wealth."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Shabib, who is extremely da'if (weak).
