Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 712

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) said: "Matters are of three kinds: a matter whose being right guidance is clear to you, so follow it; a matter whose being misguidance is clear to you, so avoid it; and a matter about which there is disagreement, so refer it back to the one who has knowledge of it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
