Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani narrates from an old man of the people of Basrah that he said: I set out for Makkah, and while I was still on the way my thigh was broken. I sent word to Makkah, where Abdullah bin Abbas and Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and other people were, but none of them gave me permission to exit ihram. So I stayed at that watering place for seven months, then I exited ihram by performing an Umrah.

I sent someone to Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) so that they might be asked. They both said: There is no fixed time for it as there is for Hajj; he remains in his ihram until he reaches the House. He said: So I moved about between those watering places for six or seven months, until I reached the House.

What we will mention, if Allah wills, in the issue of making a stipulation (istithna') in Hajj is evidence on this, and success is from Allah alone.
