Ayyub narrates from Abu al-Ala that he said: I set out for Umrah, and when I reached al-Duthaynah I fell from my mount and something (a bone) of mine was broken. I sent someone to Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) so that they might be asked. They both said: There is no fixed time for it as there is for Hajj; he remains in his ihram until he reaches the House. He said: So I moved about between those watering places for six or seven months, until I reached the House.
This is Abu al-Ala Yazid bin Abdullah bin al-Shikhkhir, one of the thiqat (trustworthy narrators) of Basrah.
