Then a woman lifted up a child from a litter and asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is there Hajj for this one too? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, and you will have a reward."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: O people! Listen to what I say, and let me hear what you say, and do not go off saying that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said such and such. Whoever circumambulates the House should circumambulate from behind the low wall (the Hijr), and do not call it al-Hatim (the Hatim), for in the Jahiliyyah a man would swear an oath and throw down his whip, his sandal or his bow. Any child whose family takes him on Hajj, his Hajj counts for him as long as he is young, but as soon as he reaches puberty, another Hajj becomes obligatory upon him. And any slave whose masters take him on Hajj, his Hajj suffices for him as long as he is a slave, but as soon as he is freed, another Hajj becomes obligatory upon him.
Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded this hadith through Abdullah bin Muhammad from Sufyan, but it is not complete; and in earlier narrations we have narrated, through Abu Zabyan, the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the Hajj of a child and other matters, both marfu' (attributed to the Prophet) and mawquf (stopping at the Companion).
