أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَدِيبُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ، ثنا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ الْجُعَيْدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي السَّائِبُ: " كَانَ الصَّاعُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُدًّا وَثُلُثَ مُدِّكُمُ الْيَوْمَ، فَزِيدَ فِيهِ فِي زَمَنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ " قَالَ السَّائِبُ: وَحُجَّ بِي فِي ثَقَلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ.
Ju'ayd bin Abd al-Rahman said: Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the sa' was one and a third mudd by the measure of your sa' today; then it was increased in the time of Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him). Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too was taken on Hajj with the household of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when I was a boy.
