(3). It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that he visited one of his paternal aunts. She called for food, and the maidservant was late in bringing it. At this his aunt said: O adulteress! Why do you not hurry? Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Subhan Allah! You have said a grave thing. Did you see her commit adultery? She said: By Allah, no! Then Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Any man or woman who says to his or her maidservant, 'O adulteress,' without having seen any immorality from her, that maidservant will flog him or her on the Day of Resurrection, because there is no prescribed punishment (for slander) for them (slaves and slave-girls) in this world."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. However, in this chapter they both agreed on this hadith of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Whoever accuses his slave of adultery, the prescribed punishment will be established upon him on the Day of Resurrection."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man from the tribe of Banu Bakr bin Layth came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed four times that he had committed fornication with a woman. Since he was unmarried, he was given a hundred lashes. Then he asked for evidence against the woman, and the woman said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he has lied. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that man eighty lashes as the prescribed punishment for slander (hadd al-firyah) for making a false accusation.
