It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said to Urwah: "O son of my sister, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not favour any of us over another in the time he stayed with us. Rarely did a day pass without him coming round to all of us. He would go close to each wife (and visit her), but he had intimacy only with the one whose turn it was, until he reached the one whose day it was, and there he would spend the night. And when Sayyidah Sawdah bint Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) grew old and feared that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) might part from her (because of her old age), she said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my day is for Aishah,' and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted this from her." Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "It was about this that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse concerning her and women like her: 'And if a woman fears from her husband aversion or neglect' [Surah al-Nisa: 128]."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) in its chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would divide (the rights among his wives) and uphold justice and fairness, and then he would supplicate: 'Allahumma hadha qasmi fima amlik, fala talumni fima tamliku wa la amlik' (O Allah, this is my division in what is within my power, so do not blame me for what is in Your control and not within my power (that is, the inclination of the heart)). Isma'il al-Qadi said that this means "the heart", and that it concerns justice (in love) between wives.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that even after this verse was revealed: 'You may put aside whichever of them you wish and take to yourself whichever you wish' [Surah al-Ahzab: 51], the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (out of the perfection of his character) would still ask our permission, on the day of one of us, to go to another. Mu'adhah said: I asked Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "What reply did you use to give to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qays bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I went to al-Hirah (a city in Iraq) and saw the people there prostrating to one of their chiefs (a marzuban). I said (to myself): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is more deserving of being prostrated to. So I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I went to al-Hirah and saw those people prostrating to their chief, yet you, O Messenger of Allah, are more deserving of being prostrated to." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you think, if you passed by my grave, would you prostrate to it?" I said: "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do not do so. If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another human being, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands, because of the great right that Allah has given them (the men) over them (the women)."
