It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon to the people during the Farewell Hajj while riding his she-camel al-Jad'a', and he was saying: "O people, obey your Lord, offer your five daily prayers, pay the zakah on your wealth, fast your month, and obey those in authority over you; you will enter the Paradise of your Lord." I asked Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him): When did you hear this hadith? He said: I heard it when I was thirty years old.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that: Talk among the people increased. We had set out with the intention of Hajj, and when only a few nights remained before we would leave ihram, we were ordered to leave ihram. (People began saying:) Is one of us to go to Arafah while drops of semen are dripping from his private part? When this reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon and said: "O people, do you teach me about Allah? By Allah, I know Allah better than all of you and fear Him more than you. Had I known beforehand what I came to know later, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal with me, and I would have left ihram just as the others have. So whoever does not have a sacrificial animal should fast three days (during Hajj) and seven days when he returns to his family; and whoever has a sacrificial animal available should slaughter it." So we used to slaughter one camel on behalf of seven people.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on that day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed goats among his Companions, and a ram fell to the share of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), which he sacrificed on his own behalf. Then when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at Arafah, he ordered Rabi'ah bin Umayyah bin Khalaf to stand by the chest of his she-camel. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Call out: O people, do you know which month this is?" The people said: The sacred month. He said: "Do you know which city this is?" The people said: The sacred city. Then he said: "Do you know which day this is?" The people said: The day of the Greater Hajj. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has made your blood and your wealth inviolable to you, just like the sanctity of this month of yours, this city of yours and this day of yours." Thus the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) completed his Hajj, and when standing at Arafah he said: "This is the place of standing, and the whole of Arafah is a place of standing." And when he stood at Quzah in Muzdalifah, he said: "This is the place of standing, and the whole of Muzdalifah is a place of standing."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. It contains wording from the long hadith narrated by Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), and many additional words as well.
